Boats Shows Around the World

Fall is a normal time to view yachts that charter before the busy winter season. Regency charter brokers inspect yachts and meet crews to make sure that what shows on a web brochure is reality. I just returned from the Monaco Show which has a number of yachts for sale, but also some super choices of large yachts that will be available in the Caribbean as well as some that are heading to the Indian Ocean and Asia -- think Seychelles, Maldives and Thailand.

Upcoming shows include the Ft. Lauderdale Show which also has a focus on yachts for sale, and the shows in November in the British Virgin Islands, US Virgin Islands, St. Maarten and Antigua (later in December).

So if you are looking for the latest update on yachts and their condition, whether chartering or looking for a yacht to buy, we are here with the latest accurate information! Whether you want a sailing yacht, catamaran, or power yacht, we know the fleet and their crew so you can be confident in your choice of yacht.

FLIBS -- the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show

The end of October is time again for the very large and amazing Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show. This three mile stretch of assembled dock on the intercoastal waterway allows buyers to view new and brokerage yachts for sale -- big ones, little ones & everything in between! Whether you want a run about for your lake, or an ocean going power yacht there are sailing and power yachts on view.

Regency has joined with Northrop & Johnson and will have a barge on the dock. The larger brokerage yachts require appointments to be viewed, and there will be a number of charter yachts that may be viewed as well. This is the perfect opportunity to see a number of yachts in one location.

Need tickets? Want to make an appointment to see the yacht you've been dreaming about? Give us a call -- Regency & Northrop and Johnson can make it happen!

Where to charter in the Caribbean

Air flights have become an important component of where to vacation in the Caribbean. Air lift has dropped to almost all the islands which limits options -- but the major islands still have good availability.

Regency suggests clients meet their charter yacht in St. Thomas for direct flights from Miami, New York, Atlanta, Charlotte and Boston. You may begin your charter either in St. Thomas or take a ferry across to the BVI to begin you trip from the heart of the BVI.

For BVI cruising all flights connect through San Juan Puerto Rico. The shuttles can book up early, but there are charter flights available which work out at the same cost for groups of 6 or more.

Another big hub is St. Maarten -- many direct flights from the US into the Dutch side of the island and direct flights from Europe into the French side. Easy cruising the Leeward Islands.

Antigua or Martinique both are good direct flight options as well with lovely areas to cruise that are a bit more off the beaten track.

Call Us to talk over what areas would best suit your group for your winter vacation.

Regency expands into yacht sales

After many years of advising and guiding yacht owners into a sucessful charter business, I took stock of how many past charter clients had grown their interest in yachts into ownership.

In addition, it seemed to me that many clients were not sure how to find the right combination of yacht that appealed to them personally with one that could also offset costs by chartering successfully.

Finding that the charter & yacht brokerage worlds have gone global and that as vessels grow larger they do travel with the seasons, it was important to Regency to join forces with an international company with an impeccable reputation.

Northrop & Johnson is that group, having been founded after World War II and reliably serving clients ever since.

So don't be surprised at our shift in name & check out our newly developed website for details of yachts for purchase, charter or management services: www.nandjyachts.com

Monaco Show for luxury yachts

I just returned from viewing yachts at the Monaco Show -- glorious place, great cool weather and a huge array of luxury yachts both power and sail that are available for sale or charter. The dock was full with more than 50 additional yachts available for viewing out at anchor.

Even spending 5 days looking at yachts, I was not able to see them all, but found a few that I loved: Harle a brand new 176' Feadship with styling that reminds you of why you want to be on the water -- clean lines but you have the zen feeling that you are there to unwind -- not too formal.

Or how about the new Perini Navi Selene -- 56 meters of space that exemplifies the Italian design aesthetic & attention to detail.

These large yachts offer not just on deck Jacuzzis and plenty of water sports, but gyms and staff on call 24/7. Clients are now comfortable that with the high end satellite communications systems they can take the time to get away but still be able to conduct business easily if they choose.

Of the that is the deciding factor on picking a yacht and the new computer systems that allow you access to any movie or music on the server from any location also allows you to watch Bloomberg in the morning and download the data that you need right away.

Monaco offers early viewing for the just launched yachts from some of the top shipyards in the world -- that means we know what is new & fresh and will be available for the upcoming winter Caribbean season. Regency is dedicated to having thorough product knowledge so that you can be confident your vacation will run smoothly.
